Funding Announcement Press Release Template

A funding round is one of the few company announcements journalists reliably cover, but only when the release gives them what they need: the amount, the investors, what the money makes possible, and a quote that says something. This template is the structure used in thousands of funding releases that got picked up.

When to use this

Use this for seed rounds, Series A/B/C, bridge rounds, grants, and strategic investments. For acquisitions, use a company news release instead.

Acme Robotics Raises $12M Series A to Automate Warehouse Returns

AUSTIN, Texas — October 1, 2026 — Acme Robotics, maker of autonomous returns-processing systems for e-commerce warehouses, today announced it has raised $12 million in Series A funding led by Example Ventures, with participation from Seed One and angel investors from Amazon Robotics. The company will use the funding to triple its engineering team and expand deployments across the U.S. Midwest.

Returns cost U.S. retailers an estimated $743 billion annually, and most warehouses still process them by hand. Acme's robotic cells sort, inspect, and restock returned items with 99.2% accuracy, and the company has processed over two million returns since launching in 2024, growing revenue 40% quarter over quarter.

"Returns are the ugliest problem in e-commerce and everyone has been ignoring them," said Jane Doe, CEO of Acme Robotics. "This round lets us put a returns cell within a day's drive of every major fulfillment corridor in the country."

The funding will support 25 new engineering hires, a second manufacturing line in Austin, and expansion into apparel returns, the company's most-requested category.

"Acme's team has done what three well-funded competitors couldn't: made returns automation reliable enough to bet a warehouse on," said John Smith, Partner at Example Ventures.

Tips from the wire desk

01

Lead with the amount. It is the news. Never bury the number in paragraph two.

02

The 'use of funds' matters more to journalists than the raise itself. Be concrete (hires, markets, product), not 'accelerate our mission.'

03

Get the investor quote early in your process. It's the slowest approval, and releases without one look one-sided.

04

Include traction numbers you can defend. One real number beats three vague claims.

05

Coordinate the embargo with your lead investor's comms team. Funding leaks kill exclusives.

Common questions

Should I disclose the exact funding amount?

If you can, yes. 'Undisclosed round' releases get materially less coverage. If you can't disclose, give a range or a cumulative total raised.

When should the release go out?

Coordinate with any exclusive you've offered. Standard pattern: exclusive publishes at market open, wire release goes out an hour later.
